New luxury apartments in Bergen County

A new luxury apartment building is now about to come up in the business district of East Rutherford in Bergen County. The Orchard Square Apartments will be the first Luxury Apartment development project in more than forty years in the area. The building would consist of over a hundred units, and would mainly cater to new residents who shop at the local businesses. While overdevelopment in the area has been scorned upon, both by residents and by officials of the borough, this is one area of development that everyone is looking forward to. Also the plans for Orchard Square were approved over five years ago, but constructions were delayed when developers began to sue the borough in order to construct high density developments. New Housing in Edgewater or Preserving the old?

While it is a regular scene to watch old houses in Edgewater being brought down to make way for new houses, residents are now trying to change things. Neighbours of the old Arts and Crafts house along with preservationists are working together to save this structure. The old house was recently named as one of the top 10 most endangered historic sites in New Jersey by a preservation group. It is believed that the building, located at 670 Under cliff Ave, was once home to Lorentz Kleiser, an internationally recognized artist. He is said to have founded the Edgewater Tapestry Looms located in the neighbourhood. However the current owner, Jacob Ben-Moshe, has filed plans with the borough to bring down this building and another nearby home, to build three new houses. This construction would require variances from the borough. However while Ben-Moshe could not be reached for comment on the issue, his daughter Dorit Cohen stated that the historical significance of the house is just hearsay and no specific papers exist on the same Click here for more information about housing in Edgewater.

More town houses in Englewood

New town houses in Englewood seem to raise quite a resistance from local residents, and truly not without reason. Plenty of New Town houses are now coming up and many residents see these constructions as a negative impact on the unique character that Englewood has. Well known for historic mansions and stretches of green grass, Englewood's serene atmosphere is now under attack. Added to this are a couple of new town house constructions that will be slated in the area, As well as two new proposals for constructing town houses in single family zones are under consideration. The applications that have been put forth the Board of Adjustment involve land just off East Palisade Avenue. Of these, the "MNA" proposal will offer 18 town houses at 431 E. Palisade, where a stately mansion currently stands on the Englewood Cliffs border. The "DHN" proposal calls for 13 town houses at 245 E. Palisade Ave. and 230 Brinckerhoff Court. Currently two houses stand at the latter property.

Mansions in Bergen County under verbal attack

A few of Bergen County's Most Luxurious Mansions are now under the verbal attack of internet blogs. For example, a blog created by a resident in Haworth, gave a platform for many of the neighbours to voice their views on a couple of new huge mansions coming up in the area. The haworthmcmansions.blogspot.com generated traffic of over 50 opinions that came up within two weeks since the blog was published. However opinion on whether the large constructions should be allowed or not stood divided as the community debated on the balance between property rights and aesthetics. Many wrote that people should construct new houses as per the neighbourhood and not build huge houses just because they have the money. Mansion owners and a few residents however feel that these constructions are not new to Haworth, and people against such constructions feel so just because they are jealous of large houses.

Residents express concerns regarding National Football League stadium

Residents of Bergen County's Lyndhurst now have concerns as the new National Football League stadium is about to come up in Meadowlands in East Rutherford. When the issue was put before the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, residents voiced their fears regarding increased traffic and noise pollution in their area. Many feel that the 84,000 seat capacity stadium and the additional 500,000 square foot retail and restaurant complex would only congest the neighbourhood further. To be built by the Giants and Jets, officials of the borough feel that the stadium may have impact on the environment and steps need to be taken to control this. The mayor expressed hope that besides constructing the stadium, the teams may contribute funds towards transportation improvements also. Click here for more information about housing in Lyndhurst.
