Residents Work for a Better Bergen

Residents of Bergen County homes are taking up initiatives to improve the standard of life in their respective towns. The library and public works departments of River Edge are now taking donations that will benefit the Center for Food Action in Englewood. Non perishable food items like canned meat, vegetables, soups, canned food, cereal and dry milk are all being accepted during this drive. Non food items such as diapers, soaps, toothbrushes and baby formula are other items that are being accepted. In the town of Cliffside Park also, the borough is accepting canned foods and non perishable items as part of its Thanksgiving food drive. The collected food is to be distributed to the needy on Monday, November 22, 2010. On the occasion of Veteran’s Day over 100 residents of Englewood homes came together to honor its local veterans and those who are serving overseas. The event was conducted at the city’s World War I monument on November 11, 2010. On this eve, veterans of Bergenfield were also honored at the Bergenfield High School on what they noted as the Veterans Appreciation Day. Tributes were thus paid towards all local veterans of the past, present and future.

Median Home Prices Up Across America

Statistics by the National Association of Realtors reveals that the median home prices are up for over 50% of cities in the United States. As per figures of the third quarter, home prices edged up slightly for homes across the United States and the weak economy continued to dull down the interest of home buyers.  Median sale prices of previously occupied homes went up as compared to last year in over 50% of cities. Double digit price increases were noted in approximately eleven cities. The national median price of homes in the third quarter was noted at $177,900 which was a fall from $178,200 in the same quarter in the last year. Real estate experts are hopeful that the trends will change and up-marked prices will fall with the economic recovery of the nation. The process will be slow, but experts point that trends will surely work towards a positive direction. While this is a hopeful situation, many buyers are also playing the waiting game. Few speculate that sellers and realtors are pushing up prices, creating a false market.

Tips on How to Advertise a Home

If you are planning to put your home on the market for sale, then there are certain aspects that you need to keep in mind while advertising it. Use diverse media to advertise your home and available means to promote it. You could consider placing advertisements in newspapers and magazines. Word of mouth advertising is also a great idea, so get more of your friends talking about your home on the market. While advertising, talk about the excellent condition of your home, its amenities and about the good neighborhood that you live in. The Internet has now become the no.1 source of where people go while looking to buy a home; putting your home up for sale on the World Wide Web, maybe a good idea to start with. While advertising online, providing a virtual tour of your home or a suitable video of the home and the neighborhood can work wonders. This will help highlight the best features of your home.
