Chamberlain, 42, has served in the Tenafly Police Department since 1994 and was promoted to the position of chief replacing Michael Bruno, who retired as of Thursday after 28 years on the force.

Chamberlain,  will earn a salary of $176,252, compared with his prior, captain’s salary of $166,000. Chamberlain has  managed  to get the approval of both  mayor Rustin and council man Barry Honig who find themselves at odds on many issues.

Chamberlain resides in Cresskill with his wife of 14 years, Gina, and two daughters. He grew up in Bergenfield, He earned a degree in criminal justice from St. Mary’s College in Kansas and worked his way up the ladder and was promoted in 2002 to sergeant, and to captain in 2001.
