Penlyn, built in a natural hollow on the Palisades cliffs, more or less hidden from the river, was left standing when other cliff-top housing was demolished, and in 1956, it became Palisades Interstate Park Headquarters.

The New Jersey Section of the Palisades Interstate Park is in northeastern Bergen County, New Jersey, and is part of the parklands and historic sites maintained by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.
