Season’s Attractions In New Jersey

It’s the most wonderful time of the year …..

The holidays seem to bring out the best in people and places. New Jersey is a beautiful state all year round, and this time of year many of the boroughs bring out the lights and sounds that best represent the holidays for all to enjoy. Many indoor and outdoor events await you and your family this season throughout New Jersey.

This year there are many opportunities to enjoy lights, programs, public activities and holiday decorations throughout the state. Here are some top picks around the Garden State this holiday.

Essex CountySeason's Attractions
Turtle Back Zoo
560 Northfield Avenue
West Orange, NJ

Over 10,000 lights have been set up to dazzle you throughout the zoo with holiday figures and animals throughout the winter

evenings. The Holiday Lights Spectacular will run daily from Friday, December 9th through Monday, January 2, 2017, from 5 to 9 pm. The zoo is closed December 24th and 25th. Admission to the zoo is free, but the Zoo is collecting non-perishable food items, new and unwrapped toys, and new/gently used winter coats.

Battle of Trenton
Old Barracks Museum

Trenton, NJ

This annual winter reenactment is on December 31st. There are two battle reenactments, 11 am and 3 pm. This event occurs during Trenton’s Patriots Week Celebration (December 26-31, 2016). This is a free event with plenty of free parking. The entrance to the museum that day has been reduced to $8 per person, with children under 5 are free.

Jenkinson’s Aquarium
Sea of Lights
300 Ocean Avenue
Point Pleasant, NJ

Season's Attractions The Sea of Lights is a premier indoor lights spectacular at the Jenkinson’s Aquarium. This special event is December 26th through the 28th, 6-9 pm. Aquarium admission is $7. Singing princess will be in the Pavilion each night. The 26th is Belle and Cinderella. The 27th is Ariel and Rapunzel. The 28th is Anna and Elsa. Scuba Santa will also be visiting each night from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm and 7:45 pm to 8:45 pm. The Aquarium has partner with K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital’s Child Life Team for a pajama, blanket and Play-Doh donation drive. Drop off new items any evening

 

Cranbury Christmas Lights

Season's Attractions Visit the home of Keith and Marina to see one of the best light displays in New Jersey! With over 135,000 lights that are choreographed to up to 18 different songs, this is an amazing way to catch the holiday spirit while helping a worthy cause. This is a free event, but any monetary donations collected go to the local food bank. The light show starts on the hour and repeats throughout the evening. Starting at 6 pm and ending at 9 pm, there are three shows. The remaining dates are: December 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 28th, 29th and 30th.

Christmas “Light Show” Hayride

Season's Attractions This is a great family experience. View thousands of lights while taking a leisurely hayride. The digital light show is set to your holiday favorites. Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-930 pm and Sunday through Thursday from 5-830 pm. Tickets can be purchased for the single event or as a combo ($5.95 or $9.95).

Over 2 million lights decorate this one-mile route of amazing holiday décor. Enjoy this drive-thru spectacular with family and friends as the lights dance to your favorite tunes. The Christmas Light Show runs from now through January 1, 2017 (closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.) This is also a Toys for Tots drop off location. Admission is free.
