Tenafly Ranks in the Top 500 Wealthiest Zip Codes in the Country

Top 500 Zipcodes

Bergen County Affluent Zip Codes

As New Jersey residents, we have a lot to be proud of. New Jersey is The Garden State, known for both its sprawling country estates that cover historic battlegrounds and bustling metros housing monumental casinos. Much of New Jersey, due to proximity, is considered part of the New York metropolitan area, making the short drive to the city amenable. New Jersey is also the proud home to many sports teams and civic leaders that have helped our small state gain national recognition.

But lately there is another reason that New Jersey is in the news.  Our counties are not only beautiful, with schools ranking in the top in the country, but they are also among the wealthiest in the country.  A recent study released by Forbes magazine analyzed real estate data from across the US to compile the top 500 zip codes.  Altos Research, out of California, put together this list based on median asking price of homes throughout the nation. And of the top 500 wealthiest zip codes in the country, New Jersey is home to 24 of them.

Anat Eisenberg ranks as the top selling agent in Bergen County and works throughout the county, particularly within four of the named areas mentioned in the recent article. The Eisenberg team has been the trusted leader in the real estate business in the New Jersey and Bergen County for many years.

Ranking the highest in the recent list of the most expensive zip codes is Alpine, New Jersey, at number twelve (12) overall.  As one of the most prestigious zip codes in the country, Alpine boasts a top ranked public school system (high school students attending neighboring Tenafly High School), low real estate taxes and a reasonable commute to Manhattan.  With under 2,200 residents, Alpine is cherished for its privacy and well-manicured lots with beautifully built mansions.  The average home listing in Alpine is just under $4.9 million.

Englewood Cliffs at number 190, has an average asking price of over $1.5 million and ranks as the 190th most affluent community in America.  This charming high-end community sits atop the Palisades and is home to both residential and corporate offices. Unilever and CNBC call Englewood Cliffs their home.  Situated on the Hudson River, you have access to the water or to the city.  This quiet residential area has a population just over 5,000 and is only a few miles from the George Washington Bridge.

The intimate town of Demarest ranked at number 333, boasts a modest commute to Manhattan, an historic art school, beautifully preserved natural beauty and top ranking public schools. Coming in at 333rd out of the top 500 most expensive zip codes, Demarest is home to a stable housing economy where homes historically hold their value through the years. With a population of under 5,000 residents, there is an intimate feel about this bedroom community. The average listing price for a home here is just over $1.2 million.

And home to Anat  Eisenberg  is Tenafly, ranking 343rd. Tenafly has a population of almost 15,000 people and is robust and eclectic with a thriving housing market and small town charm. This Dutch settlement has grown to have a cosmopolitan feel while maintaining the old world architecture of the late 1800s.  Tenafly is full of family-friendly neighborhoods and has one of the highest ranked public school systems in all of the state.  This towns unwavering commitment to education has been a large contributing factor in the steady housing market, with the average listing price of homes coming in at just above $1.2 million.

New Jersey is more than The Garden State to its residents, it is home to affluent communities that provide safe and intimate oasis from the nearby bustle of Manhattan. With reasonable commutes to the city, it is no wonder that Bergen County is home to several family-friendly neighborhoods filled with prominent business people.
