Bottle King Gets OK To Build New Store InTenafly

TENAFLY | The Planning Board has approved the application for a new Bottle King liquor store more than a year after it was first introduced to the board, the approval was unanimous despite some objections of Tenafly residents.

The initial plan for the Bottle King, first introduced in October 2019, would have required variances for a 13,784-square-foot building with 57 parking spaces, a 50-foot flagpole, and other items.

Some of the changes made since then include increasing the space to 16,758 square feet to include a mezzanine for storage of merchandise, eliminating two parking spaces, and reducing the flagpole height to 25 feet to comply with borough code.

Bottle King will be a great addition to the retail scene in Tenafly. The chain, which has been in business for 48 years and bills itself as the largest New Jersey retailer of wine, beer, and spirits, operates 15 stores in New Jersey.

The new store site is at 95 County Road where the former Kia dealership once was.
